Section 9 was packed with Mets fans since it's behind their dugout area. There are a lot of New York transplants living in South Florida, so they always come out in droves when the Mets, Knicks or Jets come to Miami. Everyone was very friendly though, it was just painful to see Marlins fans as almost the minority. Our seats were in row 11 and had the perfect line of sight since we were in the middle tier of seats in our section.
If you want to sit closer, you can opt for the lettered rows in this section, those are "box seats" but it's just a way for Loria to charge more for seats in the same section.
The vista level (300s) still feel close at this ballpark so you should have no second thoughts about section 9, none at all.

I hate Jeff Loria but I also hated Marlins games when they played at Sun Life Stadium. It was plain and dull and was home to the Football Dolphins with little love for the Marlins. This franchise has won two World Series in their short existence, they deserve their own ballpark. End of the taxpayer discussion.

To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 9, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Marlins/New York Yankees game at Marlins Park.
