To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 116, here is a Youtube video shot from there before a Patriots/Buffalo Bills game at Gillette Stadium.
116 sat directly above the tunnel the Dallas Cowboys ran out of. (10/16/2011). It was a close game and the Patriots fans were in their usual fashion. Drunk and loud. As expected, there were also a ton of Cowboys fans and many of them were congregating in the surrounding sections near the Cowboys tunnel to get a glimpse of their favorite players.
I was in row 22 and could see the field very well. Our section didn't sit down next to the field, it was closer to the concourse area. By looking at it on the Gillette stadium seating chart, you can tell that it's one of the smallest sections on the entire lower level. Nothing wrong with that, in fact, some fans may enjoy that.
I prefer to sit closer to the 50 yard line like most folks. 116 was great for what I paid for those seats but I know for a fact that there are many other better places to sit at Gillette Stadium. The only rain on your parade when visiting Gillette is going to be the parking lots. So stay at the Renaissance at Patriot Place if you're from out of town and skip the parking madness.
