Section 319, row H, seats 5 and 6 were outstanding with a great view of the river and bridge in the distance.
The out of town scoreboard was in bottom right field underneath the high rise seats and you can still read it from the upper deck rather well. Not that you should be paying attention to other ball clubs; hopefully you're rotting for the Pirates.
You can't really distinguish the players from one another even though the upper deck is still rather close. If you pay attention to the jumbo tron though, you know who is coming up to bat and who plays what position. Binoculars aren't needed but a headset with the broadcast of the game may help keep you more in tune with the game. I've sat on all three levels at PNC Park for Pirates games and they all give you a completely different perspective on the game. For the most pat, you can sit almost wherever you want without completely breaking the bank.
General consensus league wide is that PNC Park is the best in the league and I must say, I agree even though I've only been to PNC and Citizens Bank Park in Philly. Still need to visit Progressive Field in Cleveland.

To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 319, here is a TimeLapsed Youtube video shot from there during a Pirates game at PNC Park.
