To give you an idea what the view of the ice is like from section 116, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Flyers/Washington Capitals game. Awesome atmosphere in this section and at Flyers games!
I wasn't impressed with these seats. The corners are a terrible angle for hockey. The seats were comfortable but when the puck went into the far left corner, you have to almost leave your seat to see what is going on. For that reason, I am convinced that sitting behind the net may indeed the best view for hockey. Or even the upper levels for that matter. For the money I shelled out for my ticket ($120), I was expecting a little more.
My other gripe was the jumbotron. It's eight sided and the screens are too small for fans to even see on the lower levels. I thought maybe the Dallas Cowboys big screen was over the top in their stadium but now I understand the importance.
