According to an article by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, the Atlanta Braves are expected to host the 2021 MLB All-Star Game at SunTrust Park. Atlanta Braves CEO Derek Schiller says he expects Rob Manfred to make the official announcement very soon. Rob Manfred went on record last year and stated that the Atlanta Braves were a strong contender to host the 2021 Midsummer Classic.

The Atlanta Braves plan to honor former Atlanta Braves All-Stars Chipper Jones, Hank Aaron, John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, and Phil Nierko before Wednesday night’s game vs. the Washington Nationals. That event could foreshadow that the official announcement from Major League Baseball could come on Wednesday. 2021 would mark the third time the city of Atlanta has hosted the MLB All-Star Game. The city hosted the 1972 MLB All-Star Game at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium and the 2000 All-Star game at Turner Field. Major League Baseball will often reserve All-Star games for the newest and most up to date stadiums; SunTrust Park is currently the league’s newest baseball stadium until Globe Life Field opens in 2020. Immediately following a pending merger with BB&T Bank, SunTrust Park’s name will likely be changed to reflect another corporate entity.

The 2019 MLB All-Star Game will be played at Progressive Field, home of the Cleveland Indians. The 2020 MLB All-Star Game will be played at Dodger Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Philadelphia Phillies will host the 2026 MLB All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park in lieu of the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, PA. Yankee Stadium is expected to host the MLB All-Star Game somewhere between the 2022 and 2025 seasons.
