If you purchase tickets in 220, you don't have to worry about whether they will be good or not because there are only 7 rows in all beginning with row A. The seats are universally comfortable in terms of the backs but the platinum seats in the 200s seem to have more space at the armrests which is important.
The 200s are the perfect seats if you're not someone that absolutely has to sit next to the ice to enjoy the game. Because from this section, you're high up enough to see every nook and cranny on the ice while still being able to recognize each and every player or at least read their jersey number.
I would imagine these would be good seats for a Mavericks game too but the rink is so much larger than a basketball court and there is so much stop and go, but something tells me these are better seats for Stars games.
To give you an idea what the view of the ice is like from section 220, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Stars/Tampa Bay Lightning game at the American Airlines Center.
