Citi Field has been home to the New York Mets since 2009. The stadium was constructed at an estimated cost of $900 million dollars and has a capacity of 41,800. Plans to replace the old Shea Stadium had been in talks within the Mets organization since the 1990's. Citi Field and new Yankee Stadium, home of the New York Yankees, both opened during the same year.
