Attended a Dodgers game at the last minute last season when they were playing the San Diego Padres. It was a day game and the weather was nice so we decided to enjoy our day off from work (my wife and I). We purchased our tickets on Stubhub the morning of and just printed them off at home on our printer. When we got to the stadium, we parked in Lot B which is one of the preferred parking lots (worth the extra money).
We sat about 20 rows from the field and that was close enough for me. Our perspective of the field was great. We were really close to the 3rd basemen but also in the first part of the outfield so we were equally close to everything. The 3rd base side seems to get a lot of shade compared to the 1st base side. The last time I sat on the 1st base side, I got scorched by the sun and felt it for two days afterward. If you sit in rows T-X in any of the field level sections, you should receive a considerable amount of shade from the sun thanks to the overhang from the loge seats.
I like Dodgers games because they're much cheaper to attend than Lakers and LA Kings games. The atmosphere after the change in ownership is much different although fans still don't know how to conduct themselves at a baseball game. I've never seen so many beach balls being hit around, people wanting to start 'The Wave', fans cursing at the visiting team's players and fans.

To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 29, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium.
