NRG Stadium is a very modern and up-to-date NFL stadium in regards to fan amenities and technology. Thanks in part, to the renovations the Houston Texans completed before hosting Super Bowl LI in 2017. The Houston Texans will now be renovating many behind-the-scenes areas of NRG Stadium.

Renovations will begin with the training room which will include knocking out a few walls to give the area more square footage. There will also be complete renovations of the stadium's team meeting rooms, cafeteria and staff offices. The renovations will mark the first changes these areas have seen since NRG Stadium first opened back in 2002; then known as Reliant Stadium. The primary goal was to put NRG Stadium's player facilities on par with other NFL stadiums. Renovations began as soon as the Houston Texans wrapped up mini camp and other scheduled off-season activities.

Other renovations that have been made to NRG Stadium over the last few years include

  • Upgrades to the club and suite areas of NRG Stadium.
  • New concession offerings on the lower and upper level concourses.
  • The addition of one of the largest video board systems in professional sports.
  • New artificial turf was added to the playing field.
