To give you an idea what the view of the court is like from section 217, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Clippers/Miami Heat game at the Staples Center.

Whoever constructed the Staples Center did an excellent job at making sure the seats sit further back rather than higher up. Because of that, our seats in 217 still felt very much like the first level even though they were technically the second tier of seats.
Many Clippers or Lakers fans will tell you that 217 is among the worst seats in the arena since they're behind the backboard but that's not true. The backboard wasn't bothersome at all and it was an extremely fan and family friendly environment. You should never come to the Staples Center and feel uncomfortable about sporting the opposing team's jersey. The fans are nothing like what you'll find in the Northeast.

I have found Lot W in the West Garage to be the easiest and best parking for events but you still can't beat taking the light rail down to the 7th Street or PICO stops depending on where you're coming from. I know for games that end really late, you won't be able to take the light rail back to certain areas around LA.
