309 will give you an unforgettable view of the game from up above the field. Not too high up but also not too close to the field. Couldn't take my eyes off of the fountains in the outfield, they should add more and take out one of the outfield seating areas even though the last renovation reduced the stadium's capacity. The distinctness of the fountains is taken away from though, with all of the advertisements. But if that's what helps this club make it's payroll, so be it.
309 is great if you like seeing the throws made at home plate as well as the pitcher's delivery. The seats weren't padded but offer enough comfort for 9 innings of baseball. I would recommend rows A through D, we had row C but row A is definitely where you want to be.

For a ballpark built back in the day, Kauffman feels "new". The mini golf/batting cage area in center field is a super nice touch and I like that's far out enough and not too intrusive on the experience. Spending time out there should be for the kids and not so much for the adults.
Also, if you get the chance, pay a visit to the .390 Bar and Grill near these seats. It's a restaurant dedicated to Mr. Royal George Brett.

To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 309, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Royals game at Kauffman Stadium.
