Nathan I am going to have to disagree with you. Good neightborhood...not really. If you head east on Madison about 3 blocks down there is Palace Grill, Johnny's Ice House where they practice, Hawkeye Bar, along with others. While it is not located close to the stadium on game day you are going to find all the die hards at Palace Grill early to get a glimpse of a player, because after pratice or morning skate they stop there to eat. During the lockout bars and restaraunts, such as the Palace Grill, were saying their revenues were down and business hurting because there was no hockey and all the fans afterwards head down Madison street after the game and party it up or drink away a loss.

Section 306 row 1 is amazing. You can see everything from this angel without interference of the glass and you can see the board battles in the corners easier than from center ice. The upper deck is where the die hard fans sit and they are the ones you will screaming and cheering on their team til the very end, win or lose. Truly an experience every hockey fan should have. It doesn't get any better than the gameday experience at the Madhouse!

The United Center is an ok place to see a Blackhawks game or an event, though the organization has stacked so many private boxes around the 100 and 200 level seating areas that the 300 level seats are a little farther away and elevated than you'd prefer. Our sight lines were still pretty darn good though these probably wouldn't be the best seats for Bulls games.

The surrounding neighborhood is pretty bad. There's absolutely nothing to do before or after a Blackhawks game. Do not get caught walking alone after dark. No restaurants, no fast food options, nothing. And that is what Rocky likes about it; you have no where to dine outside, so you'll spend all of your money and time inside the United Center. Every 5 years or so, someone comes up with a big plan to build an arena district next to the United Center, but it never materializes into anything.
