To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 129, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Lions/Cleveland Browns game at Ford Field.
Sat 129, row 30 for the Lions-New York Jets game on November 7th, 2010. Great game but a tough loss; we lost by a field goal. Even in losing seasons, the atmosphere is always great in the lower level sections. From what I've heard, those in the club levels aren't always the most interested in the game; they're probably busy counting their money. The sight lines are great here, you don't have to venture too far down into the section because that's a lot of steps. Twice I left my seats after a play and was able to get a beer and be back in my seat before play had resumed. That is quick. They typically have all of the regular domestics on tap and the import beer concessions are scattered throughout the stadium. You're going to be paying upwards of $10 for any beer you purchase.
If you're looking for a great place to tailgate before the game, Eastern Market is where it's at. For dining before the game, check out Elwood's across the street from Ford Field.
