Sat in row 7 which is extremely close to the field in terms of general proximity. The foul territory wasn't huge but the seats are separated from the field a good 20/30 feet. The infield isn't too far away to the left but you can't see anything down the third base side.
We could see bits and piece of the Seattle skyline from these seats. If you sit on the upper deck along the first base side, not only can you see downtown Seattle but you can also see parts of the space needle and Pudget Sound in the distance. It's beautiful and having Century Link Field next door only adds to the beauty.

The roof stays open most of the time so dress warm if you know anything about Seattle nights, especially early and late season. The roof doesn't totally enclose everything but enough to protect anyone from getting wet.
I also must warn you about the trains that come and go next door, you will hear a few train whistles throughout the game, more than likely but I think that kind of adds to Safeco's character a little bit.

To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 116, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Mariners/New York Yankees game at Safeco Field.
