Had seats in row CC for a game against the Tigers (one of the last ten or fifteen rows in the stadium). It was a friday night game which is always Fireworks Night during the summer months so make sure you stay after the game.
Section 425 is going to be one of your better choices on the Hy-Vee level. Any seat behind home plate will do in sections 418-425. You can't go wrong with those sections in terms of the view you'll get. The pace will seem kind of slow sitting higher up but in retrospect, you're not too high up if you sit in rows A-K. You can purchase these seats for $14 for a full season which is a bargain to me. If you watch the Royals every night on tv anyway and don't live far from the stadium, why not take advantage? I've bought partial season ticket plans in the past and always end up having a great summer of baseball!

If you want some exercise, you can reach these seats via the ramps or an escalator near Gate C is also available, the home plate entrance.
There are no restaurants outside of the ballpark so if you arrive and get thru the gates early on game day, you'll have time to eat at the .390 Sports Bar on the loge level or at Rivals Sports bar in right field. The food is equally as good at both, in my opinion but I'm a guy that just loves food more than most people.
Rivals Sports Bar is where the pre and post game shows are filmed, just so you know.

To give you an idea what the view of field is like from section 425, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Royals game at Kauffman Stadium.
