Milwaukee Brewers Adding More Protective Netting To Miller Park

After expanding the protective netting at Miller Park in 2015, the Milwaukee Brewers will be adding more netting in time for the 2018 Major League Baseball season. The move comes after several other MLB teams have announced they will be taking similar measures. The netting is expected to extend to the beginning of the dugouts near first and third base areas of Miller Park.
Milwaukee Bucks Pursuing Naming Rights Agreement For New Arena

The Milwaukee Bucks are currently pursuing a naming rights partner for their future home arena which is currently under construction. Milwaukee Bucks President Peter Feigin is hoping to secure a partner that will pay the Bucks between $7 and $10 million and for a period of twenty years or more. According to Feigin, the Bucks have five or six suitors that are headquartered in either the United States or overseas. Bucks fans can expect an agreement to be completed over the next two months.
Major League Baseball A Possibility In Portland According To MLB Commissioner

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred recently went on record to state that Portland, Oregon was on the short list of potential cities that could land a team down the road. Just a few months ago, Manfred also cited Las Vegas (Nevada), Charlotte (North Carolina), Montreal (Quebec) and Mexico City (Mexico) as potential cities that could land a team as well. Major League Baseball hasn’t expanded since 1997 when it introduced the Tampa Bay Rays and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Colorado Rockies To Upgrade Coors Field For 2018 MLB Season

Coors Field has long been considered one of the groundbreaking stadiums in the new era of Major League ballparks. The venue will get an upgrade in 2018 when the Colorado Rockies organization add a massive 8,300 square foot scoreboard that will feature nearly 7 million LEDs. The scoreboard will be 2 and ½ times larger than the Rockies’ current scoreboard which was installed only ten years ago.

New Jersey Devils Unveil NHL's Largest Scoreboard At The Prudential Center

The New Jersey Devils will make their season debut at the Prudential Center tomorrow night when they take on the Colorado Avalanche. Devils fans will receive quite the surprise when they reach their seats as the New Jersey Devils organization have officially added the largest scoreboard in the National Hockey League. In recent months, the Detroit Red Wings were boasting the largest scoreboard in the National Hockey League at Little Caesars Arena; the team’s new home arena.
New York Yankees Expanding Protective Netting At Yankee Stadium

Two weeks after a 105 MPH foul ball struck a young girl at Yankee Stadium, the New York Yankees have announced they will be adding more netting around the infield. The netting currently extends from the beginning of both dugouts and behind home plate. In 2018, the netting will extend to the end of the dugouts.
Chicago Cubs To Add Additional Netting To Wrigley Field

In the wake of a young girl getting hit by a 105 MPH line drive by Todd Frazier of the New York Yankees, the Chicago Cubs will be adding 30 additional feet of protective netting to Wrigley Field. In addition to moving the dugouts a little further down during previously planned renovations of Wrigley Field, the Cubs will extend the netting to the beginning of each dugout instead of the ends which are located near home plate.
Detroit Tigers To Add Additional Netting To Comerica Park

After a Todd Frazier (New York Yankees) line drive struck a young girl at Yankee Stadium last week, the Detroit Tigers have announced that they will be adding more protective netting to Comerica Park this offseason. Major League Baseball made league-wide recommendations for netting and fan safety back in 2015. The netting at Comerica Park currently extends between the start of both dugouts and runs behind home plate. The new netting will likely extend further down to the ends of both dugouts.
Seattle Mariners To Add Additional Protective Netting At Safeco Field

The measures of the netting are unknown but will likely extend down to the end of both dugouts and will be completed by the beginning of the 2018 Major League Baseball season.

Tilman Fertitta Purchases Houston Rockets From Leslie Alexander

The Houston Rockets have been sold for an NBA record $2.2 billion to Texas billionaire Tilman Fertitta. Forbes Magazine originally valuated the Houston Rockets at $1.6 billion but many league sources expected the sale price to easily exceed $2 billion. Fertitta is the owner of Landry’s Inc., one of the largest restaurant corporations in the United States. Under the umbrella of Landry’s Inc. are restaurants such as Morton’s Steakhouse, McCormick and Schmick’s and Bubba Gum Shrimp Company. Fertitta is also the owner of Golden Nugget Casino and Hotels.
Los Angeles Clippers Adding 8 "Star Courtside Seats" At The Staples Center

The Los Angeles Clippers organization are introducing a new premium seating area at the Staples Center with the addition of the “Star Courtside Seats”. The area will consist of eight seats that will sit courtside between the Clippers and visiting team benches. The scorer’s table that previously occupied the area will be broken up into smaller pieces.
Cost of Personal Seat Licenses At New Rams Stadium In Los Angeles Could Set NFL Record

The Los Angeles Rams are ramping up the sale of personal seat licenses (PSLs) for their new stadium in Inglewood, California. The venue is expected to open in 2020 and will also be home to the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers. There are rumors that the Rams organization will be selling personal seat licenses that range from $175,000 to $225,000 per ticket. That price would set the mark for the most expensive personal seat licenses in NFL history; a record that the Dallas Cowboys currently own with some personal seat licenses that cost $150,000.
Canadian Tire Centre, Home Of The Ottawa Senators, To Reduce Seating Capacity

The Ottawa Senators organization have added tarps to some of the uppermost seats of the Canadian Tire Centre (formerly called Scotiabank Place) which will reduce the arena’s capacity from 18,5000 seats to 17,000 seats. The move comes one season after the Senators made a deep run into the Stanley Cup Playoffs but still struggled to sell out the arena during those games.

Construction On New Raiders Stadium In Las Vegas Could Be Delayed

Both Las Vegas, Nevada and Los Angeles, California have NFL stadiums that are due to open at the beginning of the 2020 NFL season. The Los Angeles stadium was originally slated to open in 2019 and will be home to both the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers. However, the NFL, Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke and his ownership group delayed the stadium’s open date due to the site flooding earlier this year. It appears as if the Oakland Raiders could find themselves in the same spot with a flood-control channel underneath the stadium site that needs to be relocated.
Toronto's Air Canada Centre Changes Name To Scotiabank Arena

Canadian banking giant Scotiabank has purchased the naming rights to Toronto’s Air Canada Centre; home of the NBA’s Toronto Raptors and NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs. The deal is reportedly worth $800 million over 20 years or $40 million per season. The agreement is the largest naming rights agreement in NHL history. Barclays, another multinational bank, pays a similar price for the naming rights to the Barclays Center, home of the New York Islanders.
Amazon Considering Entering The Ticketing And Events Industry And Competing With Ticketmaster

With Ticketmaster (Live Nation Entertainment) holding a virtual monopoly on the primary ticket market in the United States, Reuters is now reporting that Amazon Inc. is considering entering the event and ticketing industry. Ticketmaster has received plenty of negative feedback over the years with it’s excessive fees that get tacked on to each purchase. Amazon has stated that those fees would be included in their ticket prices with no surprise fees upon checkout. Amazon has already shown traction in the ticketing industry for select events in Great Britain with their brand Amazon Tickets.
