Had a great time at the Indians-White sox game. I think the White Sox are the team I've seen the most of at Progressive Field; love watching great athletes like Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko. I had never sat on the club level before so I wanted to splurge a little bit on the tickets. $200 for two seats, could be worse. It was a weekend game so the crowd was really into it.
The club seats are awesome though probably not as intimate as what you're thinking. You're probably expecting 7 or 8 rows of plush seats and very few fans. In actuality, a lot of fans are packed into the club seats. The rows are lettered A thru T if I remember correctly, so there are more than 20 rows total. Which still leaves a little bit of stair climbing for fans.
This section's vantage point is right where the infield dirt meets the outfield grass. You'll have a great look at first base from these seats.

The only downside to the club seats is that it primarily consists of businessmen on a business outing and not people there to really enjoy the game. Just my impression from the only Indians game I watched from the club seats - I could be wrong.
