If you're rooting for whoever is facing the Blackhawks on that particular night you're at the United Center, then 122 is the most coveted section for you and other visiting fans. We were directly behind the Red Wings players and the entire team bench last season but in row 14, so we couldn't see into the bench area that well. But you don't want to be too close to the glass behind the benches because the constant movement of the coaches and players will block a lot of your view. Seats behind the bench in hockey are easily some of the most overrated seats in sports. But if you sit in row 14 like I did, everything will be gravy.

There is nothing like sharing some hockey conversations with folks from your hometown at an away game. We made the trip down to Chicago from Ann Arbor and it's quiet an easy trip to make; I plan on doing it again next year. The United Center blows 'The Joe' out of the water but Joe Louis has much more history and lore.

To give you an idea what the view of the ice is like from section 122, here is a Youtube video shot from there as the Bruins take the ice vs. the Blackhawks at the United Center.
