I'm a devout Panthers fan that makes one road trip each season to see the Panthers play. We finally decided to check out New Orleans this past December, the Panthers play there every year but we had always chosen cities in close proximity. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency down the street from the Superdome, probably one of the nicer hotels I've stayed in. We didn't have to worry about parking at the game and did some pre-gaming at the famous Bourbon Street, also down the street from the Superdome. They also had an outdoor tailgate before you walk into the stadium with live music and tons of vendors. Saints and Panthers fans were all over the place and were definitely enjoying themselves.
The location of our seats were less than stellar.

623 is way up top and in the corner. Sight lines were average. Seats were small. No drink holders. The fans were definitely into the game and also very welcoming to my family and the other Panthers fans in attendance which was much appreciated. The upper deck at the Superdome is much steeper than the upper deck at Bank of America Stadium back home in Charlotte.
We rode the escalator to the upper deck, no climbing stairs. There were tons of signage to show us which section was which but the concourse were tiny and didn't allow for good traffic flow. Bathrooms were clean, line weren't long but also not short. Had an excellent Roast Beef Po Boy from one of the nearby concession stands. The "Seafood Nachos" were ok.
Afterwards, we back to Bourbon Street for food. This is easily the best NFL roadtrip I've been on. The food and culture in New Orleans is amazing, oh, and there's football too. Cincinnati will be our next roadtrip this upcoming season when the Panthers travel to take on the Bengals. Can't wait.

To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 623, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Saints game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
