To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 223, here is a Youtube video shot from there before a Patriots game at Gillette Stadium.

I took my 10 year old son to his first Patriots game last year for the game vs. the Indianapolis Colts; we had seats in row 14. The Patriots won by a touchdown in a shootout. Think of your seats in 223 as sitting further back and not higher up. It will feel like a lower level end zone seat but with an improved view of the field. You can easily read the numbers on the grass to tell where the ball is, especially if you sit higher up.

The mezzanine seats are great seats. Practically the same seats as the club seats and they have a much lesser ticket price. I think most of the large Boston corporations buy those tickets up anyway.

We ate @ Skipjack's before the game at Patriot Place. They have some great food but you also have Five Guys, Qdoba, Toby Keith's and Bar Louie to choose from. No sense in spending lots of money on the overpriced concessions.
