I took my two brothers to a Lions/Falcons game last season as an early Christmas present. Row 20, seats 16 thru 18 were our seats and they were everything we were hoping for. It's very hard to find a bad seat in Ford Field with only two big levels of seating and one small designated club area on the 2nd level. The 2nd level are the best when it comes to sight lines.
The lack of wasted space along the sidelines puts these seats much closer to the field than you would think, I was really impressed. The walls that encircled the field also weren't very tall which created an even better effect when a Touchdown was about to be scored.
Getting into the stadium before the game was a bit chaotic - the main entrance was packed with fans and no one really knew where the other entrances and lines were throughout the grounds. All of the gates on the Montcalm Street side seemed to be packed with the most fans. FYI, security has also just issued a huge crackdown on bringing bags into the stadium. It's probably better to just have your wife leave her purse in the car when coming to Lions games from now on. Just to be safe.

I've never been here for a Thanksgiving game which is a huge NFL tradition but we plan to in the near future just to say we've done it (we don't live in Detroit). If you've never been to a Lions game, come visit Ford Field and cross it off of your list of NFL stadiums to visit. There is a lot more to do in Detroit than you think!

To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 123, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Lions/Carolina Panthers game at Ford Field.
