I take the family to a few Dodgers games each season and these were our seats for the Chicago Cubs game in August. We sat about 12-15 rows up. Not a very inexpensive place to sit but the view was phenomenal so you shouldn't mind spending the money. Perfect vantage point to see all of the plays at first base. The Cubs dugout was just below our seats too. The loge has a great view from many of the seats due to it being on the 2nd level. Sitting a little higher up, you'll be able to see more of the surrounding area like the trees and the San Gabriel Mountains. You can't see any part of the downtown skyline from inside the stadium but you can see it well from certain parts in the parking lot.
If you're on a budget and worried about price, remember that you can bring in bottled water and your own food into the stadium as long as it's in the proper container. We often bring in our own P-Nuts to save $7.

To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 142, here is a Youtube video shot from row C, seat 1 before a Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium.
