Along with Busch Stadium (St. Louis Cardinals), Miller Park was perhaps the most appropriate name for the Milwaukee Brewers and their home stadium in America’s beer capital. However, Miller Park will be changing it’s name to American Family Field in 2021. The current naming rights agreement with Miller Brewing Company was first signed in 2001 and is set to expire at the end of the 2020 Major League Baseball season. As one could imagine, many Milwaukee Brewers fans were disappointed when they received news of the name change.

The new naming rights agreement with American Family Insurance is a 15-year agreement that begins in 2021. The financial terms of the new naming rights agreement were not disclosed to the public. However, the agreement is projected to be significantly more than the $40 million Miller Brewing Company paid for the stadium’s naming rights in 1996. The local taxes that were used to fund the construction of Miller Park will sunset in 2020.

Despite the name change, Miller Brewing Company will continue to be the official beer sponsor of the Milwaukee Brewers. Miller Brewing Company is a subsidiary of Molson Coors Beverage Company (MillerCoors). The Milwaukee Brewers recently announced that they will also be adding two social areas to Miller Park; Miller Lite Landing and the Terrapin Beer Company Bar. The Miller Lite Deck, an all-inclusive area located above the bleachers, will be rebranded as Leinie Lodge for the 2020 season.
