Where To Sit At Guaranteed Rate Field

Guaranteed Rate Field, home of the Chicago White Sox, is a baseball stadium that doesn’t get much press. In fact, it has changed names several times since opening in the early 1990s which has only confused and annoyed baseball fans. Guaranteed Rate Field is also no where near as historic as the old Comiskey Park which sat on the same property. It’s common knowledge that Guaranteed Rate Field isn’t even the best Major League ballpark in the city of Chicago. Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, is one of the most beloved stadiums in Major League Baseball history.

Nevertheless, Guaranteed Rate Field is still a fine ballpark to catch a game in and is very easy to navigate; read our review of Guaranteed Rate Field. Our staff wanted to breakdown the Guaranteed Rate Field seating chart so that fans will have a better idea about which tickets to purchase. There are only three seating levels at Guaranteed Rate Field; the lower level (100s), the club level (300s) and the upper level (500s). Unlike most Major League Baseball stadiums, fans are unable to move to the lower levels of Guaranteed Rate Field if they hold an upper level ticket. The White Sox ushers are major sticklers about checking each fan’s ticket at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Guaranteed Rate Field Seating Chart, Chicago White Sox. 

The outfield concourse at Guaranteed Rate Field is completely open-air and is where all of the statues of former Chicago White Sox players are located. The protective netting at Guaranteed Rate Field is located in front of sections 122 through 142 as well as in front of the Scout Seats behind home plate. The visiting team's bullpen is located in front of sections 104 and 105. The Chicago White Sox bullpen is located in front of sections 157 and 158. The Chicago White Sox use the dugout on the third base side of Guaranteed Rate Field; the visiting team uses the dugout on the first base side. The Chicago White Sox use a dynamic pricing model which means the price of tickets depends on the opponent. The most expensive home games are typically vs. the Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers.

 

 

Magellan Scout Seats

The Magellan Scout Seats is an all-inclusive seating area located directly behind homeplate and are the most expensive seats at Guaranteed Rate Field. The perks that come with sitting in the Magellan Scout Seats include

  • Complimentary alcoholic beverages.
  • Complimentary buffet food.
  • In-seat waiter service.
  • Wide padded seats with additional comfort.
  • A private entrance to Guaranteed Rate Field.
  • Private restrooms and concessions.
  • Access to a climate-controlled lounge.

A ticket for the Magellan Scout Seat sections will range anywhere between $250-$350 per ticket depending on the opponent.

 

 

Lower Level

The lower level seats at Guaranteed Rate Field includes sections 100 through 164. The number of rows in the lower level sections will greatly vary. Rows 35-37 will be the last row for most sections on the lower level of the stadium.

The Chicago White Sox have organized the lower level seats into many different price points. They include the

  • Diamond Box
  • Platinum Box
  • Gold Box
  • Lower Box
  • Outfield Reserved
  • Bleachers 

The diamond box sections include the first ten rows of sections 135 through 143 (behind the White Sox dugout) and the first ten rows of sections 121 through 129 (behind the visiting team's dugout). The platinum box seats include rows 11 through 25 of those same sections. The bleacher sections include sections 161 through 164 and are located in left-centerfield. The outfield reserved seats include sections 100 through 107 (right field) and sections 157 through 159 (left field). The lower box sections are sections 111 through 118 and sections 146 through 153. All of these different price points could vary from season to season depending on what the team wants to charge fans so we'll stop there.

 

 

 

Club Level

The club level at Guaranteed Rate Field consists of sections 311 through 357. These sections will have five rows of seats and the rows are numbered 1 through 5. The Chicago White Sox have organized the club level seats into two different price points. They include

  • Premium Club Box
  • Club Box

Fans with premium club box tickets will have access to the Guaranteed Rate Club which sits behind Homeplate and on the second level of the stadium. Perks for the Guaranteed Rate Club include

  • Padded and more comfortable seats.
  • In-seat food and beverage service.
  • Access to private restrooms and concessions.
  • Complimentary buffet food.
  • Complimentary alcoholic beverages.
  • Small sections that are shielded by the sun.
  • Fans with premium club box season tickets will have access to autograph sessions for former Chicago White Sox season ticket holders.

Fans with regular club box tickets will have the following perks.

  • Access to the Skyline Sports Bar.
  • Access to the club lounge which features private restrooms, concessions, a full bar and flat screen televisions.
  • Excellent sightlines from the second level of Guaranteed Rate Field.
  • Fans with club box season tickets will also have access to autograph sessions for former Chicago White Sox season ticket holders.

 

 

Upper Level

The upper level at Guaranteed Rate Field consists of sections 506 through 558. These sections will have 21 rows per section and they’re numbered 1 through 21. The Chicago White Sox have organized the upper level seats into three different price points. They include the

  • Premium Upper Box
  • Upper Box
  • Upper Reserved

The premium upper box seats are the first few rows of the upper level sections that sit above/behind home plate. There is a well-known local legend that many of the upper level seats at Guaranteed Rate Field have bullet holes in them from neighborhood shooters and pranksters.

The upper level seats at Guaranteed Rate Field are some of the most affordable seats in Major League Baseball. Personally, we would recommend that fans avoid the upper level seats because they won't be able to visit other areas of the ballpark. Especially if you're visiting Guaranteed Rate Field for the first time. Outside of Guaranteed Rate Field, you won’t find much to do before or after the game. There are no bars, hotels or restaurants. The stadium is located on the south side of Chicago which isn’t the safest area but there are typically too many fans around for pedestrians to feel unsafe while going to games. Make sure you try a Polish sausage with onions at Guaranteed Rate Field. It's required if you want to get the full Chicago White Sox experience.
