For many years, Joe Louis Arena, former home of the Detroit Red Wings, featured an old school scoreboard at the center of the arena. Now, the Red Wings are getting ready to unveil the largest scoreboard in NHL history when Little Caesars Arena opens in September. The scoreboard will measure 5,100 total square feet. Little Caesars Arena will also offer 45 Led displays throughout the arena measuring 13,500 total square feet.

The scoreboard will be symmetrical with each side measuring 28 feet high and 43.5 feet wide and will offer 360 degree views. Four smaller displays measuring 7 feet high and 9 ½ wide will hang below the scoreboard. Daktronics will design and install the scoreboard. Two ribbon displays will also circle the arena. The first Detroit Red Wings home game will be held on October 5th when the Red Wings host the Minnesota Wild.

The Detroit Pistons will also share Little Caesars Arena with the Red Wings so the scoreboard will provide an excellent fan experience for basketball fans as well.
