The MTS Centre, home of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets, will be changing it’s name to the Bell MTS Place following Bell Canada’s acquisition of Manitoba Telecom Services. The acquisition was worth more than $3.5 Billion. The downtown arena was built in 2004 and has been home to the Winnipeg Jets since the team relocated from Atlanta, GA in 2011.

The naming rights agreement with Bell Canada will expire in 2021. Bell also owns the naming rights to the Bell Centre, home of the Montreal Canadiens and wanted to avoid any confusion between the two venues. Bell MTS Place is the smallest arena in the National Hockey League and was formerly home to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.  The old signage throughout the arena will be fully replaced by September 1st, 2017 just before the start of the 2017-2018 NHL season.
