Stubhub Center, Temporary Home Of The Los Angeles Chargers, Will Be The Smallest Stadium In The NFL

The San Diego Chargers have relocated to Los Angeles, California and will begin play at a temporary home stadium in 2017; the Stubhub Center in Carson, California. The Chargers will also play their 2018 home games at the Stubhub Center. Their new home stadium in Inglewood, California will be completed in 2019 and will be the most expensive stadium in the NFL. The Stubhub Center will be the smallest stadium in the NFL for the next two seasons which will create a high demand and limited supply of Los Angeles Chargers tickets. The team's decision to play their home games at such a small venue is an effort to help the Chargers begin to build a strong foundation of a fan base in the Los Angeles area. The Stubhub Center is also home to Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy.

The Stubhub Center only has a capacity of 30,000 seats and the Chargers organization recently released the ticket prices for the 2017 NFL season. Ticket packages will range from $700 to $3750 per ticket for a 10 game package that includes the two preseason games as well. Ticket packages for Los Angeles Rams home games across town will be much more affordable. The best seats at a Rams home game in 2017 will be $150 cheaper than the best seat at the Stubhub Center for a Chargers home game. The Rams are currently playing at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, their former home before relocating to St. Louis in 1994. The Rams will share the new $2.6 billion stadium in Inglewood with the Chargers when it opens for the 2019 NFL season. Since 1967, the Chargers played their homes games at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego; a stadium that seats a little more than 70,000 people. 

The Chargers organization had also been in talks with Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum about playing their home games there as well. However, the stadium's current lease wasn't able to accommodate the Chargers. One thing is for certain; the Los Angeles Chargers will offer the most intimate fan experience in the National Football League for the 2017 and 2018 NFL seasons. We just hope you can afford to see a game there.
