Several years ago, the Kansas City Royals conducted a study that examined the viability of building a stadium in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The Kansas City Royals have played their home games at Kauffman Stadium since 1973, which is located on the Harry S. Truman Sports Complex several miles from downtown. New Kansas City Royals owner John Sherman recently stated that he is open to exploring the idea of building a new stadium for the Royals in downtown Kansas City.

The Minnesota Wild have been selected to host the 2021 NHL Winter Classic. The game will be held at Target Field, home of Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins. The visiting team has not yet been named. The 2021 NHL Winter Classic will not be the first outdoor hockey game for the Minnesota Wild. The Wild hosted the Chicago Blackhawks at TCF Bank Stadium during the 2016 NHL Stadium Series; a game the Wild won by a score of 6-1. 2021 will mark the 13th NHL Winter Classic since the event was founded back in 2008. The Buffalo Sabres hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins at New Era Field during the inaugural NHL Winter Classic.

SRB Management LLC, led by Los Angeles Angels owner Arte Moreno, have agreed to purchase Angel Stadium of Anaheim from the city of Anaheim, as well as 153 acres adjacent to the stadium. The deal is valued at $325 million and will likely keep the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim through the 2050 MLB season.

Nearly all of the personal seat licenses (PSL) for Allegiant Stadium (future home of the Las Vegas Raiders) have been purchased; netting roughly $400 million for the franchise. A personal seat license is a one-time expense that enables an individual to purchase a season ticket. If an individual does not honor their season ticket agreement with the team, their PSL can be revoked and sold to another individual. The demand for Las Vegas Raiders season tickets are much higher than the organization had originally projected. Allegiant Stadium will have a capacity of 65,000 seats and is expected to cost more than $2 billion to construct when all is said and done.

Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) will begin implementing mobile ticketing for all concerts, Washington Mystics home games, Washington Capitals home games, and Washington Wizards home games at Capital One Arena in 2020. Mobile ticketing is expected to make ticket management and entry into Capital One Arena more feasible for spectators. MSE will utilize the Ticketmaster Presence software which will replace paper tickets with digital passes.

The Miami Marlins and Biscayne Bay Brewing are forming a five year partnership that will bring a beer hall to Marlins Park beginning in 2020. The Biscayne Bay Brew Hall will be a 3,000 square foot space located outside of sections 15 and 16 on the promenade level of Marlins Park. Both Miami Brewing Company and Nightlife Brewing Co. already have a presence at Marlins Park.
